To 6 Au­gust, Govet­tBrew­ster Art Gallery/Len Lye Cen­tre, New Ply­mouth A re­view of works con­nected with New Zealand- born artist Len Lye’s stay on the Span­ish is­land of Ma­jorca in 1930 with famed lit­er­ary pair Robert Graves and Laura Rid­ing. Dur­ing his visit Lye was highly pro­duc­tive, ex­per­i­ment­ing with book cov­ers for the cou­ple’s Seizin Press. The cov­ers, hailed for their mod­ernist de­sign, fea­ture in the ex­hi­bi­tion along­side mod­ernist lit­er­a­ture from the Graves and Rid­ing cir­cle, works from Lye’s early ca­reer and a rarely seen paint­ing ded­i­cated to Lye by his close friend and pi­o­neer of ab­stract art Ben Ni­chol­son. govet­tbrew­ster.com
