Spring garlic green stir fry

NZ Lifestyle Block - - Garden Diary -

The vegetables used in this recipe are interchangeable – use whatever is in season. Serves 4.

Heat a heavy-based frying pan and add oil. Add garlic and vegetables and stir fry for 8-10 minutes or until tender but still slightly crisp. Add honey and vinegar and toss well to make sure vegetables are well coated and the honey has melted. Serve immediately.

Off to sow and invest in the future. cause a few headaches. New Zealand is a notoriously mineral and trace elementdeficient country – think selenium, boron, copper, and manganese for starters – and it is difficult to provide plant health if the elements are not either there on the ground or easily available.

On the other hand, being as selfsufficient as possible is hugely desirable in a world full of corporate greed, poisoning of basic food stuffs, depleted world health and depraved behaviour by some parts of humanity. I see red when I hear of restrictions on seed saving and plant sharing, and all I can imagine is these people must be nasty control freaks.

Find what works for you. It’s all a balancing act and making use of new and old technologies to ensure productive gardens makes sense.
