Split your wood when green

NZ Lifestyle Block - - The Good Life -

Dry wood is harder to split and some woods, like elm, are nearly impossible to split when dry. Also, if it starts to rot, wood will never dry out the same.

Split and stack so it dries as fast as possible, even if that has to be done beside the stump at the time – you can always wait for summer to get vehicle access to it, and then stack it in the firewood shed.
