cleaned out your wa­ter troughs lately? The best rule of thumb is to ask your­self whether you would drink the wa­ter your­self? If not, empty them out and scrub off any al­gae. A hand­ful of cop­per sul­phate in the wa­ter will stop al­gae re­grow­ing, and a cap­ful or two of cook­ing oil will stop mos­quito lar­vae from hatch­ing in it.
