The owner of GT Refinishers, Grant Walker, has after two years finally found time to get his personal EG Civic to a near running state. Grant picked up the shell cheap after it was involved in an accident that ripped the rear suspension points from the chassis. In most circumstances this would see the car shipped off to the crusher, but Grant had other ideas to convert the Honda to RWD, the first of its kind here in New Zealand we believe. He picked up an S14 SR20 and five-speed, which both found their way into the shell along with the S13 front suspension, custom tubular crossmember, and rear diff cradle with S13 diff. To get the cradle fitted, the chassis has been notched and plated with subframe mounts welded in. There has also been a full trans tunnel fabricated.
The SR20 is being wired up at Jtune, and once the plumbing and driveshaft are completed the car will be ready for the final process in the cert.
Grant is keeping it simple, with a Type R bodykit and fresh coat of Type R white, and will ride (or should we say skid) on a set of adjustables and Veilside three-piece wheels.
