One of New Zealand’s most iconic races — Race to the Sky — will re­turn April 18–19 af­ter an 11-year hia­tus. Tony Quinn and the team from High­lands Mo­tor­sport Park is be­hind the res­ur­rec­tion of what is now the long­est gravel hill climb in the world. Not for the faint-hearted, the 14.4km South­ern Lakes ac­cess road fea­tures 135 turns as it climbs from 450 me­tres to 1500 me­tres above sea level.

The event’s re­turn has sparked the in­ter­est of eight-time reign­ing cham­pion Nobuhiro ‘Mon­ster’ Ta­jima, who will re­turn along­side 20 other past com­peti­tors, as well as 80 new-gen­er­a­tion com­peti­tors cov­er­ing 15 classes.

Nam­ing-right spon­sor Repco has two trips for two up for grabs, which in­clude re­turn flights to Queen­stown (de­part­ing Auck­land, Welling­ton, or Christchurch), three nights’ ac­com­mo­da­tion at the Novo­tel Queen­stown, two VIP hos­pi­tal­ity days at Repco Race to the Sky event, two pas­sen­ger rides in the Repco Race to the Sky car, and two af­ter­noon en­tries to the High­lands Mo­tor­sport Park. To en­ter the draw all you have to do is spend $50 in store at Repco dur­ing the month of March, and text your re­ceipt num­ber and name to 244. Com­pe­ti­tion closes March 31.
