Robbie Ward has unofficially had more features in NZ PerformanceCar than any other workshop in New Zealand. And, while many came before the Datsun 240Z, this was certainly the car that put him on the map thanks to the massive wheel stands he performed, week in, week out, at Meremere. At the time, the car was a fully fledged road-legal machine with an 800-kilowatt RB30/26 combo. Robbie had purchased the car as a near-complete V8 drag weapon some six months before and put it together in only four. At the time of the shoot, the PB was 8.71s on 98 pump fuel, which would make it a topfive contender for our street-car list. Before he sold it overseas, he got the PB down to a 7.86 at 285kph.
