NORTH VS SOUTH AT WAIMATE 50
The claim to superior soil has raged on since the this little old country was formed, and none take the North versus South battle more seriously than the drift boys. With battle lines drawn firmly in the sand, there’s few dates a year that allow the southerners to take on the northies on their own island, with one of the biggest going down at the annual Waimate 50. We broke the news last issue that the North Island line-up would include the likes of Daniel ‘Fanga Dan’ Woolhouse, Andrew Redwood, Ben Wilkinson, Troy Jenkins, and Gaz White, and we’ve since been given the inside word that that two-time national champion Curt Whittaker will join the ticket, along with Shane Allen, Adam Davies, and 2017–18 D1NZ Pro-Sport champion Liam Burke.
But the southies ain’t going down without a staunch fight, sending their best wheelman to counter the invasion from the north. D1NZ Pro driver Philthy Sutherland has signed on to show them a taste of real southern hospitality, along with Drift South champions Dan Currie and Brogan Mooney getting in on the fight, and Pro drivers Josh McMillan, Corey Farrant, Bradley Knight, and Dan Robinson.
Don’t miss the battle for bragging rights at the Waimate 50, 20–21 October. Head to waimate50. co.nz for further information and ticketing.
