A touch unlucky to miss the 2015 semifinals on points di erential, MAGS are hungry to take that next step. One more try might have lifted MAGS to third and into the semis, but it was not to be. Some untimely early concussions rocked coach Geo Moon’s master plan. “We know we had a good side in 2015 and played well, but got no chocolates,” says Moon. But he is looking forward to working with 15 returnees, all of them who have come through the school’s rugby academy. Watch for captain and lock Waimana ReidlingerKapa, centre and 2015 NZ Schools wing Caleb Clarke, flanker Isaiah Papali’i and halfback Salyn Tonu’u, son of Ofisa Tonu’u. Eroni Clarke, father of Caleb, will help out behind the scenes. MAGS will be fit, ready and pumped, and will play with an expansive mindset. Now the First XV just needs that consistency to contend after last appearing in the semifinals in 2013.
