NZ Rugby World - First XV - - WELLINGTON -

Silverstream face probably the biggest challenge this year when it comes to replacing school leavers but they have recruited former Wellington and Hurricanes hooker Tim Mannix as head coach. Mannix confronts a tough introduction, with 10 players from last year’s 22-man squad gone. Replacing some will be no easy task. Departures include No 8 Joshua Brown, lock Tone Fauolo, centre Tarquinn Alatipi, who has joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs and NZ schools lock Losi Filipo. Gaps will largely be filled by players from the Under 15 team that won the Wellington and Hurricanes tournament last year. How they manage the step up to First XV will have a large bearing on the team’s success. Manager Victor Herbert suggested Silverstream will be made up of grafters, rather than out-and-out stars. Loose forward/lock Jack Wright, selected for the Hurricanes age group team, and No 8 Jarrod Harawira, in his third year at this level, will need to lead the way.
