Perry Har­ris was an hon­est pro­vin­cial slug­ger – a solid prop for Manawatu never no­ticed by na­tional se­lec­tors or the wider rugby fra­ter­nity.

He was bask­ing in the glory of Manawatu's Ran­furly Shield win against Auck­land in 1976 when, two days later, he was called to South Africa by the All Blacks.
