AGE: 23 HEIGHT: 1.87M // WEIGHT: 96KG CAPS: 18 // POSITION: MIDFIELD DEBUT: 2016 There have been few more surprising packages than Anton Lienert-Brown in the last five years. The youngster went from unknown to All Blacks regular in 2016, and has cemented himself in the All Blacks’ match day 23 because he possesses a vast range of skills and a super calm temperament.
Equally comfortable at 12 or 13, the All Blacks have a view that at some stage in every test, they need him on the field.
They prefer injecting him later because they feel he is the master at exploiting a tired defence.
He makes such good decisions on the ball, taking his time to pick his play. He’s also one of the best o oaders in the team, a genuinely creative passer and it is that skill which tends to hurt fatigued teams.
By 2020 he could be a world class centre.
CLASS ACT Anton Lienert-Brown has a rare eye for space.
