He played a couple of tests last year at centre, but Seta Tamanivalu, in shifting to the Crusaders, inadvertently reinvented himself as a power wing. And a good one at that.
He proved that wing is more his position. He was able to better use his obvious running power and pace, and he scored regularly for the Crusaders and gave them a destructive force that helped them win the title.
It was apparent that, by the end of the year, he had climbed some way up the wings’ pecking order and will be pushing for a regular All Blacks squad place next year.
