Making Scott Robertson Coach of the Crusaders

NZ Rugby World - - 2017 The Year In Review -

The former All Blacks loose forward is the most unlikely coach. He’s a bit out there is Razor – a surfy dude from the Hawke’s Bay who is famously good at break dancing.

But while he’s unconventional, he’s got something crazily good going on as a coach. Legend has it that when the Crusaders board interviewed him for the job, they were worried about the players connecting with him.

Razor said to go ask them what they think and the board came back blown away by how forceful the players were in their desire to play for Robertson.

Bottom line is that he got everything right in his first year. He had the Crusaders playing dynamic, direct rugby and they won their first title since 2008. He ended the agony for the club and restored the Crusaders to what they see as their rightful place at the top of the Super Rugby tree.
