BEST BUY: SHANNON FRIZELL

If there was a stand out in the patchy Tasman Makos’ 2017 season it was in the large shape and athletic form of Shannon Frizell.

Brother of Tyson – a league back-rower with the Dragons and Kangaroos – the younger Frizell showed his aerial ability, ball-running prowess and bruising shoulder with a string of dynamic displays in the recent Mitre 10 Cup.

Not much should change in 2018 except he’ll most likely have to show his impact from the bench behind the two senior locks, Ainley and Franklin. Frizell’s athleticism and ball skills have also made him a handy loose forward acquisition if required and allows Mauger and Co to tailor their bench to suit.
