Three things we got right last year

01 KANE HAMES AS A SMART SIGNING

Obviously we know heaps about scrummaging. Not. But still, we knew enough people who did know plenty about scrumagging and they all said Kane Hames was one of the best in the country.

So when the Chiefs signed him, we knew they had bought a quality player.

02 HOW LONG BEFORE SANZAAR CRACK

One of our big questions was whether Sanzaar could get to Easter last year without deciding to revamp the 2018 tournament. We said it would be madness if they went that long without acknowledging the need for change.

They obviously agreed because by March they met in London and decided they had to axe three teams and reduce Super Rugby to 15 teams.

03 NEW BOYS STILL SUCK

The Blues, who were hammered in Tokyo, would disagree but we were right when we said that the Sunwolves and Jaguares would mostly be rubbish. They were.

The sad thing is that we had a little hope for the Jaguares and they went backwards at a rate of knots.
