Where Is That Place?
Hi Sarah, I am so pleased that I took a subscription out for NZTODAY; I have done away with the concern about whether I will get a copy from a shop now. I have kept The Best of NZTODAY Volume 2 wrapped, to take away with me on holiday, I can then spend some of my time planning other areas to visit, based on the articles!
Part of the reason why I love your magazine is apart from the great articles, are the photos. However there are quite a few that have no caption, so even though I know they were taken in the area that the article is about, I do not really know what they are of and wouldn’t be able to go to the same area.
For example, the whereabouts of the house on the cover photo? (Dec-Jan)
And then some of the more distinctive photos in an article. For example, the mountain on page 26 – I think it is Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku but that is only guessing as I know the area a wee bit – a lot of people won’t know that; the top photo on page 27, the wharf on page 30?
The article about Kaikoura is much better, I know that when I go there, to look for Fyffe House because it is part of the history of the place. There are captions on most of the photos in this article which is really great, so for example, if I want to see a good view of the coastal area, I need to find out where the Peninsula walkway is.
Keep up the good work with your variety of areas in both the South and North Islands. Kind regards, Sue Smaill ED. Dear Sue, My bad re the Marlborough Article. I am probably a bit of a scrimper on captions, so please let me explain. The cover photo is a cob cottage in the remarkable Molesworth Station, yes it is Mount Tapuae-o-Uenuku and the wharf is in Resolution Bay near Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds.
