Marlborough Definitely Has the WOW Factor!!

NZ Today - - LETTERS -

After recognising the scene on pages 22-23 of NZTODAY 53 and reading what you so ably described about your Pelorus cruise Sarah, my husband and I felt compelled to revisit our favourite Sound again while the summer was still upon us.

As we had shed our own toys a few years ago after several summers in that Sound, the Grape Escape sounded just the right sort of boat for us and the weekend was PERFECT!

From scalloping, shucking practise and catching cod limits for delicious dinners and breakfast fare, all in the company of the hospitable and wonderful Ken and Erin Giles, the weekend was extraordinary and all that you described! We too had whitebait fritters for breakfast – my husband said if Sarah had them, he would ask too as loves them along with the fresh lunch mussels we enjoyed – all 4 kg of them between us! The weather was perfect and our overnight in World’s End bay was a duplicate of your experience but we had an added bonus – dolphins swimming alongside Grape Escape on the 3 days we were out in the Pelorus and in Tennyson Inlet.

Just magical and we would highly recommend both the area and the boutique cruise with Erin and Ken as they are such great hosts and the bubbles, beers, Drambuie night caps and wonderful meals made a long weekend seem to go on forever. The cabin with en suite and after a day’s activities, meant we had the sleep of the just on the comfy bed.

Thanks again for your recommendation and we are planning another trip to parts of the Sound we did not see this time, as well as going to the Havelock Mussel Festival on March 15th. Geraldine Masters, Christchurch ED. So glad you appear to have enjoyed your cruise experience as much as I did.
