Beach permit required
Auckland Council has moved to restrict vehicular access to two popular beaches, Muriwai northwest of the city, and Karioitahi south-west of Waiuku. From September 01 anyone operating any type of vehicle on either beach must have a permit issued by council and that permit must be displayed in the vehicle or on the driver ( see TorqueTalk on page 72 for more information and discussion about the move). To obtain a permit go to http:// www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/ EN/ LICENCES REGULATIONS/DRIVING ONBEACHES/ Pages/rules.aspx# apply If you don’t have access to a computer and/or the internet, Council service centre staff can complete the online form on your behalf. The online form will generate the licence which can be printed and provided/posted to the customer. Further information about rules/guidelines can be viewed via http:// www. aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/ EN/ LICENCES REGULATIONS/DRIVING ONBEACHES/ Pages/ rules.aspx# apply for using vehicles on Muriwai and Karioitahi beaches.
