This year’s Po­laris NZ Offroad Rac­ing Cham­pi­onship takes a brief breather this month be­fore launch­ing into the fi­nal north­ern and south­ern round in Au­gust. Head­ing up the na­tional points chase is Al­bany’s Raana Ho­ran, thanks to a strong run to win GT Ra­dial Tyres class 8 at the open­ing round and then fin­ish sec­ond over­all be­hind Mike Fraser at the Wood­hill 100 in early June. Ho­ran now has 141 points of a pos­si­ble max­i­mum 144, with Can­ter­bury driv­ers fill­ing the rest of the top five. Ex­pe­ri­enced class three com­peti­tor Wayne Mo­ri­arty is clos­est to Ho­ran, lead­ing his class with 133; Ron Crosby dom­i­nates 4WD Bits class 2 ( pro­duc­tion) in his Mit­subishi Pa­jero with 128 points; V- Dub Shoppe Chal­lenger class com­peti­tor Brad Har­vey is mak­ing the most of a new en­gine and leads his class, be­ing fourth over­all on 126
