MEGA NOTCHY

-

John Dillon and the team at DB Race Cars have been making progress on a ’65 Mustang notchback owned by John’s partner, Nelly Eastham. As John is the co-owner of the Childs Play–sponsored Chev Beretta doorslammer, the Mustang has really only been worked on over winter, during the drag racing off season. Originally bought as a tidy driver in original condition, the Mustang has, as John puts it, “got a little out of control, as projects tend to”. What he means is that it’s ended up with a three-quarter chassis, with Wilwood brakes at each corner, front coilover suspension, and a triangulated four-link rear. The engine is a 427ci Windsor with Air Flow Research (AFR) alloy heads, all topped off with a Paxton supercharger and carburettor enclosure. This is backed by a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual box and Moser diff, so the Mustang should be making a whole lotta noise in the not-too-distant future. This won’t be the last you see of it on these pages.
