City JP dies

BROCKVILLE’S Ngaire Duke, a long­serv­ing JP and well­known for her work with the Cit­i­zens Ad­vice Bureau, died on Thurs­day, aged 68.

Mrs Duke, who was awarded a QSM in the New Year’s honours last De­cem­ber for her ser­vices to the com­mu­nity, presided as a JP over Satur­day morn­ing court ses­sions in the city for 25 years, her hus­band Barry said last night.

She re­tired in 2016 from the Dunedin Cit­i­zens Ad­vice Bureau, hav­ing been the man­ager for 22 years, and was a key mem­ber of the group which ad­vised on set­ting up the Com­mu­nity House in Mo­ray Pl.
