Submitters appear to be overwhelmingly in favour of a smokefree Central Otago.
By Thursday, the Central Otago District Council had received 25
submissions approving of the policy, two that wished for amendments and two that opposed it.
The policy covers all councilowned parks and reserves, tracks and walkways, sportsgrounds and playgrounds.
Signs will be erected in these areas, but rules will not be policed.
Submissions for both the Lake Dunstan bylaw changes and the smokefree Central Otago policy closed yesterday.
