Otago Daily Times - - WORLD -

ST PAUL: A raccoon that became an internet sensation on Wednesday by climbing a 25storey office tower in St Paul, Minnesota has been safely trapped and will be released.

The forest creature was caught in a live trap on top of the UBS Plaza late Wednesday night, Chelsey DeMers, of the company Wildlife Management Services said.

She said it was in good condition and was eating.

A company technician was expected to set it free at a site yet to be determined.

The raccoon’s adventures caused a stir on social media and its climb was livestreamed by several broadcasters. It reached the roof on Wednesday night, where the baited traps were waiting.

Nearby Minnesota Public Radio, which broke the story and closely followed the raccoon’s climb from its headquarters less than a block away, branded the animal #mprraccoon. — AP
