Help for Samoa
Auckland: World health authorities are now helping Samoan officials investigating the deaths of two children who died shortly after receiving a MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination.
The World Health Organisation and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund said representatives were working closely with the Samoan Government.
Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi this week called for an inquiry into the circumstances of the deaths of the two 1yearolds, who died after receiving a vaccination at Safotu District Hospital last Friday.
The Cook Islands suspended all MMR vaccinations yesterday. — NZME
