Craig Dewar, of Sawyers Bay, and daughter Isabelle (3) admire a kahawai he caught at the annual Eastern Boating Fishing Club competition at Karitane on Saturday.
Mr Dewar also won the heaviestfish prize with a 2.9kg blue cod.
Club president Eric Boock said about 90 people competed in 27 boats. There were ‘‘some nice fish caught’’.
There was also an ‘‘unlucky boat’’ prize, won by a vessel with a motor that broke down.
The vessel then lost its anchor, and lost a woman overboard on landing.
The competition raised money for Karitane School.
