Otago Lily Society general meeting, Janet Cameron Lounge, Green Island, at 1.30pm. Meeting will be followed by a discussion on a spraying schedule for lilies, afternoon tea and a raffle. Inquiries, Margaret 020 40017356.

Monday, October 5

North Otago Garden Club meets Foundation for the Blind hall, Steward St, at 7.30pm. Marise Martin will speak about easygrown herbs for health. Rhododendr­on is the flower of the month.

Heritage Roses Otago working bee at Northern Cemetery, Lovelock Ave, 9amnoon. Bring own tools and heavy footwear.

Maori Hill Garden Club meets in Passmore Cres at 10am to car pool to Dunedin Botanic Garden or meet at 10.15am by the informatio­n centre. Wear a flowerador­ned hat. Morning tea at Crocodile.

Tuesday, October 6

Otago Bonsai Society meets Mercy Hall, 42 Macandrew Rd, at 7.30pm for an open workshop. Please bring along your trees to work on. Trees of the month: Larch (Larch trophy), flowering, spring foliage, open class. inquiries Joy, (03) 4884592.

Brockville Garden Club meets at the Community Hall, Brockville Rd at 1.30pm to car pool to Blueskin Nurseries for afternoon tea.

Otago Rose Society monthly meeting, St Peter’s Church hall, Hillside Rd, 7.30pm. Guest speaker: Dunedin Botanic Garden adult education officer Clare Fraser on ‘‘Silent spaces trail and other new routes at DBG’’. Raffles, sales table, supper.

Thursday, October 8
