-

Baseball: Hall of Famer and twice World Series champion Joe Morgan, considered one of the great second basemen, has died aged 77 after battling a nerve condition, his former team, the Cincinnati Reds, said yesterday.

Morgan played for five different Major League teams, winning the World Series with the Reds in 1975 and 1976. He won the National League Most Valuable Player award with the Reds in both seasons.

After a 22year career, in which he hit 268 home runs and recorded 1133 runs batted in, Morgan embarked on a career in broadcasting. — Reuters
