Base­ball: Hall of Famer and twice World Se­ries cham­pion Joe Mor­gan, con­sid­ered one of the great sec­ond base­men, has died aged 77 af­ter bat­tling a nerve con­di­tion, his for­mer team, the Cincin­nati Reds, said yes­ter­day.

Mor­gan played for five dif­fer­ent Ma­jor League teams, win­ning the World Se­ries with the Reds in 1975 and 1976. He won the Na­tional League Most Valu­able Player award with the Reds in both sea­sons.

Af­ter a 22­year ca­reer, in which he hit 268 home runs and recorded 1133 runs bat­ted in, Mor­gan em­barked on a ca­reer in broad­cast­ing. — Reuters
