Dead driver named

Invercargill: Police have released the name of the man who died after his vehicle hit a pole in Invercargill early on Saturday.

He was 43yearold Kerry Peter Owens, of Invercargill.

Police were called to the scene in Dunns Rd, near Oreti Beach, about 1.30am, following reports of a vehicle crashing into a pole.

They confirmed the driver died at the scene and noone else was involved in the crash.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death were ongoing.
