Armistice Day marked in silence
In commemoration of the signing of the Armistice with Germany on November 11, 1918 all work and locomotion ceased for a period of two minutes yesterday. Linked with the
rest of the Empire, Dunedin observed this tribute of silence. The people in the streets remained uncovered, and the various shops and business houses closed their doors. On the various public buildings and business premises flags were flown, wreaths were placed on the Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial at the Oval, and special reference was made to the day in many of the schools.
