Oamaru outclasses Albion

OAMARU: Valley, Waitaki Boys First XI and Oamaru recorded wins in the weekend’s round of Borton Cup cricket.

Oamaru made no race of it against Albion which, batting first, made 83 in its 50 overs.

Jack Davies’ innings of 26 was the top contributi­on, while with the ball for Oamaru, Lakshay Siwatch claimed five for 23 and allrounder Stephan Grobler four for 22.

Oamaru raced to 85 without loss, thanks hugely to Grobler’s 64 not out.

Valley beat St Kevin’s First XI, passing the college side’s total with a solitary wicket in hand.

St Kevin’s, batting first, made 190. Craig Smith (49), Regan

George (34) and Liam Direen (23) were the main contributo­rs with the bat.

Cameron Grubb took four for 26 and Hayden Tisdall two for 23, the best for Valley.

Shannon Dunnett was the major contributo­r for Valley with a fine innings of 87 as it made 192 for nine.

Waitaki Boys First XI was too strong at Milner Park when it defeated promoted Glenavy.

Waitaki Boys, batting first, made 214 for nine in its 50 overs, with Hunter Wardle topscoring with 42.

Bowling for Glenavy, Ross McCulloch took four for 25, Kurt Thomas two for 35 and Heath Booth two for 34.

The Glenavy batsmen could not produce the required runs and were dismissed for 113.
