Kia ora koutou,
Will the super city deliver on its promise? After six years many will feel the amalgamated city hasn’t lived up to the lofty hopes that many held for it. With the Unitary Plan about to be signed and a new mayor starting soon, many are saying the benefits of the super city will come to fruition. For those of us out south, one of the key issues is a lack of public infrastructure to match the sprawling urban development. Getting a new carpark for the Takanini train station (pg1) is the perfect example of the needed infrastructure which will support those living on the city’s margins but are needing to work in its heart. Conversely it’s good to see that the Papakura station’s upgrade does show there is progress being made and it seems other developments for public facilities are now in place. Let’s keep pushing our decision makers to make the case for Papakura and it’s surrounding areas so as the City of Sails grows, it doesn’t forget who’s on board.
Nga mihi, Justin
