DRUG SMUGGLERS JAILED
An elaborate attempt to smuggle huge amounts of drugs into New Zealand has landed two Japanese men in jail. The pair tried to import a large haul of ephedrine inside wooden tables, aluminum shelves, plastic cylinders and fitness equipment such as skipping ropes. Kazuki Keino, 49, believed to be the ring-leader, faces nine years and four months in prison on five importation charges. Accomplice Kentaro Hara, 42, was jailed for 25 months for attempted possession for supply of a class B drug. The pair were sentenced at Manukau District Court on Friday.
