FROM THE EDITOR

Papakura Courier - - FRONT PAGE -

Please keep your comments coming on our Neighbourly and Facebook pages regarding the editorial’s topic last week - the mowing of grass (or lack of) in our council-maintained public green spaces and street berms, and the quality of the work. On another topical subject, it’s refreshing to read in the page 3 news brief that sense could prevail regarding the contentious cycle lane on Great South Road at Takanini, that Auckland Transport installed and no one wanted. Although AT admits it’s not policy to remove cycleways, it’s looking at turning that piece of road into something useable - a bus, T2 or T23 lane. I can hear your collective ‘‘hallelujah’’ - judged on all the correspondence we received about the stories we produced on the subject late last year. Looks like that issue could be travelling in the right direction. And talking of civic matters, Ben Ross’ column in Conversations on p6 encourages us to take time to consider and comment on the Auckland Council’s three major plans being publicly consulted on now.
