Dates to diary: The Fashion Sessions
The Britomart precinct becomes a fashion hub from Wed 29 Mar–sat 1 Apr
The central city faces a fashion takeover later this month with Heart of the City’s 4 Days of Fashion in the City event. The Britomart precinct is doing its bit to celebrate the event with The Fashion Sessions – a mix of ticketed and free events, including runway shows, vintage sales and installations from Britomart designers and retailers. The highlight for us is the group runway show on 30 March, with Zambesi, Kate Sylvester and World under a marquee on Tyler Street. Stay tuned for deets of other events around the city. A new shoe collab celebrates New Zealand’s unique terrain
I Love Ugly has collaborated with Japanese heritage sportswear brand Onitsuka Tiger to create two pairs of shoes – The North-south Pack. Each stitch, speckle and colour accent on the shoes represents the terrain of the North and South Island – think wild coastlines, volcanic thermal areas and sprawling landscapes. The North Pack shoe, $220, from I Love Ugly Camp-collar shirt in pineapple, $113, from Barney Cools. G2 Organic Lining sneakers by Spring Court, $287, from The Iconic. Freeway Polarised Stelvio sunglasses by Local Supply, $86, from The Iconic. Buoy beanie by Herschel Supply Co, $59, from Good as Gold. City General Tote by Incase, $99, from Superette.
Spotlight on: La Lumiere
Let there be light
Bringing Instagram-worthy weddings and events to life is all in a day’s work for Kristina Ercolano, owner of lighting boutique La Lumiere. Her shop specialises in festoon and fairy lights, ambient vintage-style pendants and candle lanterns – the kind you see hanging inside marquees or lining the tables of elaborate outdoor dinners on the ‘Gram. Opened in October last year as an extension to her event lighting business, which has been operating for 10 years, the shop builds on Ercolano’s reputation for immaculate lighting installations.
