Frankie Mooney’s fashion inspiration is never-ending

Paper Boy - - Front Page -

Where do you work?

I am stock manager and 2IC at Kate Sylvester Britomart [58 Tyler Street]. ———

What’s your favourite piece in store?

The Kate Sylvester Miller skirt in ink. It’s a long leatherette skirt with a belt that fastens around the top. I wear it a couple of times a week and I’d hate to be without it. ———

What are some fashion trends you’re embracing at the moment?

I try not to be too trend-orientated but I do really love leather corset belts, which are definitely trending. ———

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

My inspiration is never-ending but of course, places like Instagram and Tumblr. I get so much inspiration from films and film stills that I see on the internet. Even cinematography that isn’t associated with fashion. I’m very ruled by my emotions so anything I see can make me feel like dressing a certain way. ———

What makes a good customer?

I’m not fussy but manners are always appreciated. ———

What’s an item of clothing that everyone needs in their wardrobe?

A little black dress is important. Otherwise quality jeans. ———

Whose style do you admire?

Stylist and make-up artist Stacey Nishimoto. She reminds me of myself because she draws inspiration from places that aren’t actually real, and she has made me reconsider what fashion is to me. ———

How would you define good style?

I think good style is the appropriate combination of fashion and personality. Knowing which item is the right piece to put with another, to create an overall feel, or say what you want it to say. Some things are ugly but next to something else they can be perfection.
