Awards help farmers climb career ladder
Entries have opened for the 2017 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards.
The Waikato Dairy Industry Awards launch night, held at Farm Source Morrinsville on October 20, was attended by over 80 interested entrants, farmers and sponsors.
The evening recognised the national and regional sponsors, enticed potential entrants and was a chance for farmers to network.
Bobby and Jade Millner, this year’s Regional Managers and the 2016 Waikato Share Farmer winners, said by entering the competition you are taking ownership of your future and can give yourself the best chance to stand apart from the rest by showcasing your skills.
‘‘Through the awards programme your learning and development is accelerated. It is a place to challenge yourself, raise the bar and climb the career ladder.’’
The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards attracts farmers from across the country, working in all levels of the dairy industry. Within the competition there are three categories; Dairy Trainee of the Year, Dairy Manager of the Year and Share Farmer of the Year.
This year there are prizes galore for getting involved in the 2017 Waikato Dairy Industry Awards.
Not only is there a share of $12,000 of National Early Bird travel prizes, but the Waikato region is also giving away three early bird entry prizes of $500 for each competition category.
For people that attend any one of the Waikato Launch events (Morrinsville, Te Awamutu or Putaruru), they can nominate a mate to enter the awards, and then go into the draw to win a $200 Farm Source voucher.
‘‘This year we are encouraging our young farmers to participate, and seeking entry nominations through our sponsorship family. It’s time to showcase our talented farmers.’’
Two further launch events are being held at Putaruru Farm Source on Thursday, October 27 (11am- 1pm) and Te Awamutu Farm Source on Friday, October 28 (11am-1pm).
Dinner and refreshments are provided for all who attend the launch events. More information can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz. Entries are now open, Early Bird entries close on November 9 and all entries close on November 30.
