Po­lice raid houses in st­ing

Co­caine and cash were seized af­ter mul­ti­ple homes were raided in a st­ing tar­get­ing drug sup­pli­ers in Te Aroha.

Five peo­ple were ar­rested, De­tec­tive Sergeant Wil­liam Loughrin said.

At one property, where Armed Of­fend­ers Squad mem­bers as­sisted po­lice of­fi­cers in the search, po­lice lo­cated co­caine, cash and drug re­lated items, he said.

A 32-year-old man was ar­rested and charged with sell­ing cannabis, pos­ses­sion of a class B con­trolled drug and pos­ses­sion of uten­sils for the con­sump­tion of metham­phetamine.

A 21-year-old man was also lo­cated at the property and ar­rested on an out­stand­ing war­rant.

Six other searches were car­ried out in Te Aroha, Loughrin said, and three other men were ar­rested.

The trio were taken into cus­tody on out­stand­ing war­rants to ar­rest and dis­hon­esty charges.

‘‘We re­ceived in­for­ma­tion from mem­bers of the com­mu­nity about per­sons in­volved in the sup­ply of metham­phetamine and cannabis and we acted on that in­for­ma­tion.’’
