Police raid houses in sting
Cocaine and cash were seized after multiple homes were raided in a sting targeting drug suppliers in Te Aroha.
Five people were arrested, Detective Sergeant William Loughrin said.
At one property, where Armed Offenders Squad members assisted police officers in the search, police located cocaine, cash and drug related items, he said.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with selling cannabis, possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of utensils for the consumption of methamphetamine.
A 21-year-old man was also located at the property and arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Six other searches were carried out in Te Aroha, Loughrin said, and three other men were arrested.
The trio were taken into custody on outstanding warrants to arrest and dishonesty charges.
‘‘We received information from members of the community about persons involved in the supply of methamphetamine and cannabis and we acted on that information.’’
