On Saturday, Diprose Miller Morrinsville-Piako A cricket team hosted Hinuera at the Morrinsville Recreation Ground.
Hinuera captain Steven Smith won the toss and sent Morrinsville-Piako into bat on a fresh grass wicket.
Morrinsville-Piako lost a few early wickets but Brendan Revell (44) and Jayden Van den Heuval (26) built a solid partnership for 3rd wicket working hard against the Hinuera attack.
However the remainder of the Morrinsville-Piako batting order showed less resistance and spinner Nathan Lyon (5-25) ripped through the order with Morrinsville-Piako all out for 97.
Morrinsville-Piako started well in the field with openers Scott Spence (1-30) and Darryn Howse (1-36) both picking up a wicket a piece in their opening overs.
However Hinuera attacked the small total and reached the target with 8 wickets to spare.
A disappointing effort from Morrinsville-Piako to finish the Hamilton-Valley combined premier competition however the players will look to improve their performance next week when the take on the RA Sangha Xl in Paeroa in the opening round of the Mike Cotter Cup.
