Te Aroha bridge players make Waikato Bays team

Te Aroha bridge players Rochelle van Heuven and Tim Rigter have played their way to selection for the WaikatoBays Intermediate team, which will compete in the Inter-Provincial Tournament.

This prestigious national bridge competition will be held in November in Auckland.

Trials took place in Tau- ranga recently. Tim and Rochelle achieved second place and joined June and Peter Hagan who won the event.

Throughout New Zealand, keen bridge players have been competing for the honour of playing for their region in the Inter-Provincial teams.

There are four divisions, Open, Women, Seniors and Intermediates.

Each of the seven regions in New Zealand sends a team of four to compete in each section.

The prize in this national tournament is the Douglas McLean Interprovincial Trophy.

Winners will be the regional team who collect the most points collated across each of the four sections.

Waikato Bays Regional BridgeMate ( RBM) Eunice Eccles said all their hopes and good wishes go with all the 16 members of the Waikato team.
