Drive on up to the waterfront
With a beautiful beach on the doorstep, easy access to the Auckland motorway, Orewa and the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, Red Beach is a sought-after location. It is one of the few beaches on the Hibiscus Coast where motorists can drive right up to the beachfront and enjoy the seaview without leaving their vehicle – a great bonus for the elderly or wheelchair-bound. Red Beach appeals to older folk because its central area is flat, with a shopping centre, churches and a school in easy reach. Across the road from the Red Beach shopping centre is a retirement village and hospital for the elderly. For the more active at heart, there is also a golf course nearby and an extensive network of reserves, including a coastal walkway. The undulating land on either side of the flat land gives many homes lovely views overlooking Red Beach, out over Hauraki Gulf and Whangaparaoa Peninsula, or over Orewa and beyond. The beach is sheltered and has some lovely pohutukawa trees to provide shade in summer. The Red Beach Surf Club is well represented in surf carnivals, paying fine testament to the world- class, challenging surf conditions that Red Beach can turn on.
