Mid­win­ter Christ­mas feast sup­ports quake city

The Mad Butcher and Sub­ur­ban News­pa­pers Com­mu­nity Trust has its Ultimate Mid­win­ter Christ­mas Cel­e­bra­tion at the SkyCity Auck­land Con­ven­tion Cen­tre on June 30.

Pro­ceeds will go to the Prime Min­is­ter’s Earth­quake Ap­peal and Kid­ney Kids.

Trust chair­man Sir Peter Leitch vis­ited Christchurch this month, speak­ing with some of the Fe­bru­ary 22 quake vic­tims in hos­pi­tal and of­fer­ing sup­port to emer­gency work­ers.

Sir Peter says the up­com­ing func­tion gives cor­po­rates the chance to host clients and friends at a mem­o­rable event while sup­port­ing a wor­thy cause.

‘‘Please do ev­ery­thing you can to get to­gether some peo­ple to at­tend. Ev­ery cent raised goes to char­ity. There are no ad­min­is­tra­tion costs or hid­den fees.’’

Guest speaker will be All Black Coach Graham Henry who’ll be in­ter­viewed on stage by broad­caster Tony Veitch.

Co­me­dian Ewen Gil­mour will also be on hand to keep peo­ple smil­ing, and mu­sic will be pro­vided by the band Black Salt.

The night in­cludes VnC cock­tails on ar­rival, a su­perb three-course meal, com­pli­men­tary beer from Lion Brew­eries and fine wine from Glen­garry. Tick­ets are $3000 plus GST for a ta­ble of 10 or $300 plus GST per seat.
