Rodney Times

FROM THE EDITOR

- - Rhonwyn

Times are changing at breakneck speed. I began my career as a journalist typing on a type-writer - albeit briefly - and consulting huge reference books down in the basement for background information - now it’s possible to record and edit video, take photos and write a story on my phone.

This issue we look at a new initiative by Government to teach children online with the idea that children will no longer learn in classrooms (P10).

While it may seem ludicrous now, it wasn’t that long ago that I staunchly refused to get a mobile phone - now I can’t live without it. We also have an article saying the loss of banking services in rural centres may mean the end of ‘‘small town NZ.’’ (P6). It suggests people should rather switch banks than drive out of town to do their banking. The Rodney Times is moving with the times - we are producing interesting and thought-provoking articles, getting results for you - our readers. We appreciate your continued support.
