LIVESTOCK CONCERNS

-

Police are warning local residents who own livestock to ensure their fences are in a good state. ‘‘There has been a spate of animals escaping from property over the past month and police are being called in to deal with it,’’ Senior Sergeant Steve Pivac of Rodney Police says. Recently police have had to destroy a deer near Dairy Flat and cattle in Warkworth. Sergeant Pivac says if a motorist hits one of these animals at high speed, the results could be fatal. ’’I hope to alert road users and land holders of the problem in the hope fences can be fixed and road users aware of potential risks.’’
