When Winston Peters called for a press conference last week, I got excited. Finally, I thought, we’d get some clarity about who would lead our country. Alas it was not meant to be. The purpose of the conference was basically so Peters could scold the media and tell the country to wait until he was good and ready to make up his mind. While we continue to live in limbo while the person who received seven per cent of the country’s vote decides who he wants to be in power, life continues and there are great things happening in our community all the time. I love today’s cover story about Grace Stratton from Warkworth, who recently reached the summit of Rangitoto. The quote that stood out most to me was, ‘‘We owe it to ourselves to live our best lives and to assist in creating a culture which doesn’t pity the individual that is different but enables them to succeed. If we do that we might just slowly start to change the world.’’ As well as reading the story about Grace, I encourage you to find her blog and read some of her work - she is truly living her best life and helping others to do the same.
