Fitness levels improved
Next weekend the Hibiscus Coast Ports of Auckland Round the Bays team will put their fitness to the test in the 8.4 kilometre run event.
Team Fitbits have taken part in an eight week challenge where they have been attending weekly training sessions and runs at Auckland Council’s Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre to prepare for the fun run.
The team said they feel their fitness levels have improved and are excited for the event on March 4. Nikki Henare, 31, said they have been given personal training, running, boxfit and yoga sessions.
‘‘The overall experience has been really good,
I have gained more muscle and also lost weight which is what I wanted.’’
Andrea Harold, 51, also had the goal of losing weight which she did.
‘‘It has been awesome having a personal trainer and Nikki around to keep me accountable in this.‘‘
Josh Harold, 15, said he has enjoyed the experience and that it has helped him with his cricket, physical education and football.
‘‘It has also encouraged me to do really well and push myself for the schools cross country coming up.’’
Genna Harold, 13, said she has been walking to and from school to get fit.
‘‘This experience has reassured me that it is important to stay fit and healthy.‘‘
