Fit­ness lev­els im­proved


Next week­end the Hi­bis­cus Coast Ports of Auck­land Round the Bays team will put their fit­ness to the test in the 8.4 kilo­me­tre run event.

Team Fit­bits have taken part in an eight week chal­lenge where they have been at­tend­ing weekly train­ing ses­sions and runs at Auck­land Coun­cil’s Stan­more Bay Pool and Leisure Cen­tre to pre­pare for the fun run.

The team said they feel their fit­ness lev­els have im­proved and are ex­cited for the event on March 4. Nikki Henare, 31, said they have been given per­sonal train­ing, run­ning, box­fit and yoga ses­sions.

‘‘The over­all ex­pe­ri­ence has been re­ally good,

I have gained more mus­cle and also lost weight which is what I wanted.’’

An­drea Harold, 51, also had the goal of los­ing weight which she did.

‘‘It has been awe­some hav­ing a per­sonal trainer and Nikki around to keep me ac­count­able in this.‘‘

Josh Harold, 15, said he has en­joyed the ex­pe­ri­ence and that it has helped him with his cricket, phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion and foot­ball.

‘‘It has also en­cour­aged me to do re­ally well and push my­self for the schools cross coun­try com­ing up.’’

Genna Harold, 13, said she has been walk­ing to and from school to get fit.

‘‘This ex­pe­ri­ence has re­as­sured me that it is im­por­tant to stay fit and healthy.‘‘
