Owned by the Home of Cy­cling Char­i­ta­ble Trust, the Avan­tidrome is both a high per­for­mance and com­mu­nity sport fa­cil­ity, cen­tred around the pur­pose­built, world-class, in­door velo­drome. Its vi­sion is in­creased com­mu­nity par­tic­i­pa­tion, in­spired by world-class cy­cling fa­cil­i­ties, pro­grammes and cham­pi­ons. The Avan­tidrome is also home to a host of ten­ants in­clud­ing Cy­cling New Zealand, Par­a­lympics New Zealand, High Per­for­mance Sport New Zealand, Triathlon New Zealand, the Univer­sity ofWaikato, Avanti Bike Shop, and Re­volve cafe. High per­for­mance fa­cil­i­ties in­clude the ath­lete gym, med­i­cal cen­tre and re­cov­ery pools. Ath­letes have ac­cess to med­i­cal help, sports sci­en­tists, psy­chol­o­gists, gym train­ers, coaches, and life ad­vis­ers on a daily ba­sis. The com­mu­nity pro­grammes are also prov­ing a hit, with walk­ing groups, trike rid­ing groups and se­nior cir­cuit morn­ings in the gym ap­peal­ing to a wide cross-sec­tion of the com­mu­nity. It’s not only free to view the Avan­tidrome, chances are you may see one of our top rid­ers in train­ing. And if you have the urge to get on the track your­self, there are $15 Have a Go ses­sion. Bike, hel­met and in­struc­tor are all pro­vided. The Te Awa Cy­cle­way is a pur­pose­built scenic river cy­cle and walk­ing track link­ing Cam­bridge to the Avan­tidrome. Many peo­ple love walk­ing the track on the week­end, hav­ing a look at the Avan­tidrome and en­joy­ing a cof­fee at Re­volve Cafe. The Gal­lagher Bike Skills Park is a free fa­cil­ity for the com­mu­nity to en­joy. Kids can hone their bike skills by ne­go­ti­at­ing their way around the skills park ob­sta­cles, traf­fic lights, and in­ter­sec­tions. The Avan­tidrome also fea­tures a pub­lic gym, lo­cated on the in­field of the velo­drome and pro­vid­ing a one-ofa-kind space to do your work­out.
