There’s a whole day of fam­ily fun to be had at Ro­torua’s Agrodome.

This well-known at­trac­tion has been wel­com­ing vis­i­tors from around the world for­more than 40 years, pro­vid­ing an en­ter­tain­ing and in­ter­est­ing in­sight into New Zealand’s farm­ing her­itage and farm life. You can catch the world-fa­mous Farm Show, star­ring a line-up of tal­ented farm an­i­mals, you can join the Or­ganic Farm Tour to ex­plore a real work­ing farm, you can hand-feed friendly an­i­mals, en­joy sam­ples of ki­wifruit juice and honey fromthe land, check out the baby an­i­mals in the nurs­ery and take in the Woollen Mill and Shear­ing Mu­seum, which tells the story of the Bowen broth­ers who es­tab­lished the Agrodome and ex­plains how wool gets from the sheep’s back on to yours.

Open 365 days a year this at­trac­tion is lo­cated in farm coun­try just 10 to 15 min­utes from Ro­torua’s cen­tral city. It’s a great chance to get out into the coun­try­side and get a taste of ru­ral life and you’ll find it en­ter­tain­ing as well as in­ter­est­ing. There’s also a great gift shop and a café on site. The in­door farm show is a tourism icon on Ro­torua, a fun hour of en­ter­tain­ment and ed­u­ca­tion.

The farm tour also pro­vides fun for the whole fam­ily. You’ll be on board an all-ter­rain ve­hi­cle, learn about farm­ing, en­joy a few laughs and get to hand feed and take pho­tos with the friendly res­i­dent sheep, cat­tle, deer, lla­mas, os­trich, pigs and al­pacas. You’ll also tour the or­ganic or­chard and sam­ple the juices, wines and honey pro­duced at the farm,

In the mu­seum, you’ll travel back in time to a recre­ation of a 1950s shear­ing shed, watch a sheep be­ing shorn with vin­tage ma­chin­ery and learn how New Zealand be­came a wool grow­ing na­tion.
