FUN FARM DAY
There’s a whole day of family fun to be had at Rotorua’s Agrodome.
This well-known attraction has been welcoming visitors from around the world formore than 40 years, providing an entertaining and interesting insight into New Zealand’s farming heritage and farm life. You can catch the world-famous Farm Show, starring a line-up of talented farm animals, you can join the Organic Farm Tour to explore a real working farm, you can hand-feed friendly animals, enjoy samples of kiwifruit juice and honey fromthe land, check out the baby animals in the nursery and take in the Woollen Mill and Shearing Museum, which tells the story of the Bowen brothers who established the Agrodome and explains how wool gets from the sheep’s back on to yours.
Open 365 days a year this attraction is located in farm country just 10 to 15 minutes from Rotorua’s central city. It’s a great chance to get out into the countryside and get a taste of rural life and you’ll find it entertaining as well as interesting. There’s also a great gift shop and a café on site. The indoor farm show is a tourism icon on Rotorua, a fun hour of entertainment and education.
The farm tour also provides fun for the whole family. You’ll be on board an all-terrain vehicle, learn about farming, enjoy a few laughs and get to hand feed and take photos with the friendly resident sheep, cattle, deer, llamas, ostrich, pigs and alpacas. You’ll also tour the organic orchard and sample the juices, wines and honey produced at the farm,
In the museum, you’ll travel back in time to a recreation of a 1950s shearing shed, watch a sheep being shorn with vintage machinery and learn how New Zealand became a wool growing nation.
