The 39th New Zealand Coun­try Mu­sic As­so­ci­a­tion an­nual En­ter­tainer of the Year Awards will be held in Tau­ranga this year and three lo­cals are com­pet­ing for the top ti­tle.

The awards have moved from Ro­torua to Tau­ranga on Oc­to­ber 6 at Bay­court.

They in­clude a ju­nior, in­ter­me­di­ate, se­nior, vet­eran and song­writ­ing sec­tion. There are 21 fi­nal­ists — over­all win­ners from the Pounamu, Auck­land, Waikato, Eastern Bay and Muddy River awards — who com­pete for the En­ter­tainer of the Year ti­tle and prize pack­ages of in­ter­na­tional trips and stu­dio time. There will be an of­fi­cial wel­come for con­tes­tants on Oc­to­ber 5 at Ho­tel Ar­mitage.

Sat­ur­day’s event is open to the pub­lic and in­cludes en­ter­tain­ment from Kaylee Bell and her band. Kaylee is an award-win­ning coun­try pop singer-song­writer and gui­tarist from Wai­mate with 10 Top 10 sin­gles on the Aus­tralian Coun­try Mu­sic charts.

Also per­form­ing are 2017 NZ Coun­try Mu­sic En­ter­tainer of the Year win­ners Dou­ble Blend, Doug Eru­toe, Jay­din Shin­gle­ton and Seren­ity Grace.
