Join Rotorua’s sea of pink
Hi everyone. I hope you have all been well.
Last weekend I attended the Tiki A¯ hua fashion show.
It was a great show with some amazing garments and awesome performances. It celebrates some of our country’s talented Ma¯ ori designers, and there was plenty of inspiration to at the event.
Were you dancing along to the moves William Waiirua busted on the catwalk?
On Wednesday there will be a sea of pink in Rotorua as the community dresses up in all sorts of outfits for the Pink Walk.
It is a fundraiser for the Rotorua Breast Cancer Trust — and I am sure most of us know someone who has been affected in some way by breast cancer.
If you haven’t registered for the walk yet make sure you get onto it!
Unfortunately I won’t be able to take part in the walk myself, but that’s because I’m going to be dancing at another fundraiser for a great cause that evening — Ladies’ Night at Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua.
Ladies’ Night is a fundraiser for Rotorua Community Hospice, and I’m looking forward to seeing some of this year’s Harcourts Dancing with the Stars performances again.
It will be interesting doing our 2017 dance again, and I think Tairoa and I were a bit surprised at how much there was to remember but we got there in the end!
Are you one of the ladies who will be coming along for some fun and shopping on Wednesday?
This week I also got to have a chat to some of our local Filipino community about the national festival Pistang Pilipino which is being held here in Rotorua over Labour Weekend.
It sounds like such an actionpacked weekend and I am definitely keen to go along and check out some of the Filipino culture — especially the Food Festival, of course.
For more information on the festival check out the story on the next page.
There are plenty of other things going on in the community for you to read about so I’ll let you get to it.
Don’t forget to keep those thumbs ups and downs and reader’s photos rolling in.
Take care, until next time.
